Nancy started dancing at three years of age and was trained by her Mum, Mrs Jessie Stewart Haggarty MBE. Nancy had a very successful competitive experience and made numerous lifelong
friends along her journey.
At a young age, she passed the RSOBHD adjudicator examination and travelled far and wide judging numerous events and always enjoyed meeting up with various dancing friends.
She also became professionally qualified with The British Association of Teachers of Dancing and taught with her Mum and Aunt Agnes at the Stewart School of Dancing. Collectively the school
trained multiple champions in many forms of Dance. They also encouraged their students to develop from amateur tests to achieve professional qualifications. Many of these students are currently actively teaching dance throughout the world.
In 1981 she moved to Canada and formed her own dance school in Fox Creek, Alberta. She continued to encourage her students to take exams and become fully trained and qualified.
She was thrilled to become an Honorary member of The Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing. Dancing has been her life, and she has enjoyed every minute of it. She has now retired from judging and examining but keeps an active interest.
