Linda started dancing at the age of six and had the honour of being taught and mentored by the prestigious Miss Elspeth Strathern for the whole of her competitive and professional training. During her competitive career she won all major British championship titles. Her ultimate success was achieved when she won the World Championship three times, Junior in 1973 and Senior in 1975 and 1977. Linda was also a multiple winner of the RSOBHD Adult Oscar Award.
In the interests of Highland Dancing, Linda has travelled extensively worldwide, competing, lecturing and judging. She is a member of the BATD, a Fellow of the UKA, a Fellow and Examiner with the SDTA and a member of the RSOBHD Worldwide Adjudicators’ Panel. She also has a teaching qualification from the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Linda was ScotDance Canada’s Head Delegate to the Royal Scottish Official Board of Highland Dancing for 22 years until being appointed in November 2012 as Vice President of the RSOBHD, and was made an Honorary Member of ScotDance Canada in 2010. She has been a loyal and committed member of the RSOBHD for many years and has previously served on the Board’s Disciplinary, Registration and Quality Assurance Committees.
Linda has been involved in Highland Dancing now for over 40 years and ran her own dancing school in Glasgow and in Beith.
